my Tps and idle
hey guys, i went to get my emission test and they wouldn't let me take it because my idle jumps from 700 to 1.5k they said i have to have my idle stable under 1100rpms, i have been trying to get this little hitch fixed for about 2months but never figured out how, i've been checking all the vaccum lines, messing around with my idle adjusting the screw and the allen wrench screw under the butterfly, and my tabs are due up this month, thats a good 3 days to pass emissions. i've been putting it off for a while, im a procrastanator. while i was pondering about my problem, i rembered that i replaced my tps sencor since its been broken when i got my motor. theres a green gasket inbetween the two, should i replace the gasket? and also could adjusting the tps sencor do any good? im going to try anyway but which way would i turn the sencor to lower my idle? Thanks in advace

You never adjusted the TPS after you installed it? That's probably your problem. You need to adjust it so it reads .5 volts with the throttle closed, and 4.0+ volts at wide open.
Use the helms manual to find out which wires need to be checked.

With the Key On, Engine Off hook up a voltmeter to the TPS. @ idle (closed throttle), voltage should be close to .5V and @ WOT voltage should be 4.5V.
The best way to adjust the TPS voltage is @ idle (closed throttle). While Key On, Engine Off, hook up voltmeter between the yel/wht & grn/wht and observe reading. If it needs to be adjusted, loosen the TPS mounting and move the TPS until voltmeter reads close to .5V. The check engine light will let you know immediately whether you missed
up or not.
