Default From Honda's "Owner's Link"

some interesting tidbits:

"HONDA GENUINE OIL FILTERS
Few things are more important to the overall performance of your Honda than the oil that goes in it and the filter that keeps it clean. Unlike many other oil filters, Honda Genuine Oil Filters are specifically designed for your Honda for maximum protection and improved engine life.

Superior materials and advanced technology result in the ultimate oil filter for your Honda designed to provide optimum performance and reliability. For example, take apart aHonda Genuine Oil Filter and you'll find 60%* more paper than the leading competitive oil filters. And since the filter paper is responsible for trapping contaminants and keeping your oil clean, the more filter surface area you have the better.

To best protect your investment and ensure a long engine life, always use aHonda Genuine Oil Filter."

"Choosing a Motor Oil
Honda recommends using a 5W30 motor oil year-round. Lighter oils flow easier once the cold engine starts, bringing vital lubrication to moving parts.

Engine Oil Additives
Today's engine oils are formulated to maximize performance. Additives are unnecessary and increase the cost of operation."

thanks for the informative post.. I was always unsure of oil filters.. my friend always told me to use the genuine honda oil filter but I never thought it made a difference even though he told me so.. Now I know..
