insane idle now that its cold...any ideas?
hey guys, without having much luck in the search department (whats goin on with that anyway?)
when starting my car up in cold ohio weather today, my so called normal >1000k idle jumped all the way up to 3500 today... then after driving around for 5-10 mins it would lump from from 1000-3000 rapidly. Im not sure what would be causing this, all lines are hooked up and nothing has changed? My throttle body screw is backed almost all the way out, and i just dont understand why it would randomly go up that high because of the so called 'cold' weather. any idears?

The actual cause can vary alot but in my case I had the same thing that was more pronounced in colder weather...it ended up being a fast idle valve. I adjusted it at fist which helped slightly but ended up replacing it.
br00d-- how exactly do you adjust the fitv? i bypassed it a whiel ago (when i thought 1000 was a high idle) and it just got worse...any insite would be great.
