car is rattling after i tried to take the cat off
ok so one day i tried to take the cat off , but i didnt manage to take off the 3 bolts on the back of the cat.
So i put everything back like before, guess what the car is rattling everytime i take off and at some certain rpm.
any idea what causes the rattling noise ??
thanks

check all heatshields for clearance..
did you get the springs that surrond the bolts on the cat fastened properly? sometimes backing those off a bit will help get rid of vibration.
just make sure you have no exhaust leaks afterwords.

probably rattling against the heat shield. Park your car and jack it up and pull on the piping back and forth and see if it rubs against anything or just remove the heat shield all together.

Those bolts are annoying, and if you managed to get them off, getting them back on is even worse...
And like they said... it's the heatshield 9 times out of 10 that rattles...

Another Vote for heat shields here
I've had various heat shield issues on all 3 of my Gen 3 Integra's as well as on my old CRX. Honda heat shields just love to find a way to sneak in a good buzzing rattle.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Yup the one on top of the cat. The only downside to taking it off is its a little hotter around the shiftknob and e-brake. If you can handle that, then you might as well just take it off.

I had the heat shield problem on an old Galant I had, and I thought I was having the same problem but it turned out to be small cracks in the welds by the resonator. you might wasnt to look over all the welds in your exhaust. Good luck.
