Default b18c eg coupe

i have just recently put a b18c in my eg coupe (still have the stock dx exhaust piping) and i raced my friend in his baseline rsx.... im a decent driver and he is a good driver but he whooped me 2 out of the 3times we raced. the one time that i won i raped him but it was because i jumped off the line a little too quick...does this all sound right? i woulda just thought that because of my cars weight and the gsr motor that it would atleast be able to beat a stock rsx.... is there something seriously wrong with my car are does this sound about right? please post!

If its a Stnadard RSX, its 160hp....but a Type S has 200hp.

even if he had a stock type-s you should have won.... with a base rsx you should have **** raped him... either your driving sucks or he wasnt telling the truth

i have a 2nd gen jdm b16a and i often went at it with my buddy in his S. time after time he would kick my *** off the launch and on the highway..

that was before i got freeflow piping and itr cams..

now i can take him off the line and on the highway.. most of the time i'm playing catchup tho...

hope this helps.

imo you should be taking him no problems, ESPECIALLY if its a base rsx at 160hp..

you should be beating him with ease, I beat on my buddy's rsx-s substantially with my coupe when it was sohc turbo & 'autotragic'.

Get on a dyno and find out if you're putting down the right numbers. Before you do that even, check your compression.

Yeah.....sometimes those swaps dont work out like you thought they would (see sig)

My friend picked it up today though, and is gonna get it BAR'd then its off to the dyno to see whats wrong with it, I'm thinking its at about 130whp, which is horrible for a gsr swap.

I mention this because you might have the same problems that I have. I have a combination of problems though (all which will be fixed SOON) first off, I dont think that my secondaries are working, second, I am using the stock 79lph fuel pump instead of the 135lph pump that integras come with stock, third, I have the d-series fuel line from the filter to the rail, finally, my rings are more shot up than 50 cent, and I'm sure I am losing alot of power from that. So my advice to you is to get it on a dyno and see if you have enough fuel for that engine.

Best of luck to you, I hope your swap gets faster, because you should have no problem beating your friend. (assuming you have decent tires, and are not carrying 20 bags of cement in the car)

I have a gsr motor in my 00' Si and i usually beat rsx-s's from stop or roll. Not that i have ever raced any with a decent amount of mods, but never the less i so win and i know my Si is heavier than your dx. Anyways, hope this helps.

Give it some time...practice when you should shift and your launches. Its racing. Sometimes the faster car doesn't win but the guy with more skills.

That exhuast is choking the motor also.

i now know that my driving was a big part of it....i raced a mustang gt, took it to 30 in first, 60 in second, 85 in third and it was a big difference(thanks redman!)....i think i was shifting way to early before because i was afraid and i didnt know my motors limits.....i think if i raced my friend again now it shouldnt be a problem although an exhaust system would help a little bit. Thanks guys for all of your posts!

try this

2.5 inch exhaust
new NGK plugs
set the timing
DOHC VTEC (all the same) fuel pump

my car was slow as ***** with gsr swap until i did these things...now it's much faster

thats your 1st problem right there . i could see going with out a tach if you say, had a tach with the b18c originally and knew exactly when to shift because of experience, not when you first get your motor . its understandable if you cant afford it, but Dont come here asking why i didnt beat this car when your not even using the car to its fullest potentiel.

ps. dont come and say " i know i was driving right cause i hit the rev limiter" . you know you were gonna say that so please dont

Type S' usually go 15.3-15.5 stock. A kid I talked to at the track with just an intake was going 14.8
