so you want 12AN on one side of the fitting, and a barb for 1/2" hose on the other side? Or do you want 1/2" NPT on one side, and 12AN on the other side?
does it matter if i use npt or barbed. i guess just something that allows me to hook it up to a 1/2" rubber hose and has a an 12 on the other side. also those ones above will they let me connect a 1/2" rubber hose if so how?
They are hose ends, that's what they are made to do, connect a hose to a -an fitting.
I looked all around for something to go from a female -an to hose barb and i could only find them in -3an and -4an. otherwise you get stuck using a couple fittings like a female -12an to femal -12an then a male -12an to male 1/2"NPT then female 1/2"NPT to hose barb. would look nasty!

the second one might be what you need, are the first two digits of the part number equal to the -an size if so then there might be one for you but it has 3/4" hose barb not 1/2". they are also 45° while your heat exchanger is most likely 37° but it would work.
