a wastegate
Ok lets get the purpose of a wastegate down first --> wastegate releases built up pressure that is unusable by the turbo hence the chripping noise from the gate opening...now to install it into a cold air intake I don't even know how that's possible....Just have a friend sit in the passenger side and go "psssh....pshhh....pssssh" when you shift same effect
But what happens when people ask you to pop the hood to check out the turbo....what u gonna say?? "I like to pretend that I have a turbo".....

actually a wastegate controls boost by bleeeding off exhaust gases via vacuum, your thinking blow off valve.
For a blow off valve to work you need positive intake pressure which no N/A car can do with out being forced, hence why turbos and supercgargers are called forced induction. Blow off valves only bleed off air so the conpressor fan of the turbo isnt foced to "surge" and rub against the housing.
someone needs to be doing a lot of reading, noobs.

hahahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahaahahaha
this is sig. material..hahahahaha
wastegate doesnt makes that cool pssst psssssh sounds, it's the blow off valve you talking about.
mang, this is too funny

THe blow off valve relieve the pressure in the charge pipe, during a shift or stop.
without the bov, the throttle plate is gonna be damaged by all the pressured air built up by the compressor
and no, you heard the cool bov when it when the bov is open

Yeah he was talking bout a wastegate so it'd be more of a "chirp" sound (I was thinkin the pshhhhhhht thing too probably cause I was thinkin BOV also so don't feel left out
)
