Default how true is this?

saw this in an ad in the classifieds. i'm wondering how true this is.

"competition engineer traction bar for 92-95 civic and 94-01 integra. the traction bar elimiate wheel hopping and improve traction. this traction bar kit is totally adjustible to your vehicle have three different setting to adjust to your car height. with the right adjustment it will take a .5-.6 off your 1/4 mile time
$300 part # cee-9300 on summitracing.com BRAND NEW!!!!!!"

is it really possible to get .5-.6 seconds off your quarter from this?

Eh...... that's stretching it, but they do help and for 300 bux it's worth it.

Jim Fab bars are better, though.

sounds like total bs to me. if i had some pics of what it looks like i might be able to get a better idea. if it keeps the engine from torqueing a lot like beefier engine mounts, then it will reduce quarter mile times but i doubt the drop would be that significant.

i know that a couple of friends of mine have this kind of part not from summit though and it does reduce wheel hop considerably but i guess that i had never seen them at the track get lower times... i guess it all depends on conditions etc

Since when has anyone beleived a companies advertisement

I laugh when i go back and read advertisements in magazines with companies claiming like 15 hp with air filters and bolt ons .

Dont get me wrong traction bars are nice, but companies always exagerate.

If you looking for some good quality bars look into the Jim Fab bars

Also i think sometimes companies don't exactly lie, they just dont tell you everything.

Example there claimed .5 claimed drop in Et could have been made with some 500+ hp street car that couldnt get traction. I could see where it's possible, but doesnt mean it would have the same results on your average bolt on honda

It will lower ET's but to get 5 tenth's of a second you'd either have to A) be putting down alot of power or B) suck at launching.

it wasn't the company that claimed this, it was the person that is selling it. didn't you see where i said that it was in the classifieds?

gotcha

Why dont you ask them where they got this claimed figure. Maybe thats what Summit told them, or maybe there just trying to sell that **** asap... I don't know but for $300 i would rather just buy the proven Jim Fab bars. There about that price if not a little cheaper. I almost bought some when they did they groupbuy for $260 shipped, but decided I needed to make power before worrying about traction.

that isnt always the truth, but it is for hondas because they have already been squeezed of their factory power with decent factory boltons (i/h/e mainly). basic bolt ons show bigger power gains for big displacement and luxury cars (ie. fbodies, sc400, stangs). personally, i think power gains shouldnt be listed as specified numbers but should instead be listed as percentages.

Z10's traction bars are supposed to be some of the best.

I'm thinking of getting the Jim Fab motor mounts, anybody have any experience with that? Is the traction bar necessary for a mildly modded Integra??

z10 are not hte best, actually they were designed by full-rafe geoff. He even admitted that the design wasnt all that great. Jim Fabs are

It works pretty well My buddy has it on his Hatch and i driven it and it does help wheel hop. Put it must work if most of the Sport compact dragsters use it?

If you can shave .2 sec off your 60 ft time (which is what that product more accurastely does), a .5-.6 reduction in overall time would be reasonable.

Cheers,
Roy
