any tips on fixing hood latch?
Ya my hood latch broke, its been sitting for about a month and half with a broken tranny which I just found one and probly going to get. But anyways I went to take some pictures since the snow melted totally off of it with the past 3 days of warm weather. I got nothing it wouldnt pop or anything, I played with the hood a little and nada. So now I have to figure this thing out and gonna start working on it tomarrow. Anyone got any things to look for that are common problems? or easy ways of going about fixing it.

the cable, hood latch and pull tab inside the car are all separate:
try looking at the pull tab and see if it has broken.if so,you should be able to grab the end of the cable with some pliars and pop the hood.if you can pull on the cable and nothing happens,or it moves easily,it's either broken or came unhooked from the latch assembly.in that case you're gonna have to get creative with unlatching the hood

The latch and cable are sold seperately. I have a spare one if its the same as a 1998 that I can sell you.

Sounds like the plastic piece that's connected to a metallic bulb at the end of the hood cable (designed to catch the latch and pull it) broke off. Shiet, this happened to me last year and I couldn't pop my hood for shizzo. I couldn't even remove my bumper to get at the latch!
What I did was cut-off the front plastic grill inlet and unlocked it manually by fiddling with the latch. It was a fawkin' pain in the ***
. I ended up getting an entire new cable set from Majestic Honda for about $20.00

Try holding the hood pop in the int. out while you get someone else to see if the hood will come up. Might just be the pop is jammed/rusted up! If so spray some WD40 on it or some white lithum grease!
Just a thought, had this problem with a non-Honda vehicle!
