OT: JDM steering wheel installed, now getting SRS light?

Hey guys, I'm asking this question for a friend.

He just installed a JDM steering wheel w/airbag in his R, now he's getting the SRS light. Any reason why? I haven't seen the car or anything, but I'd assume everything is installed correctly.

Sorry also for not searching, I'm sure theres a million posts about this on H-T, I just gotta run to the parents place, and won't have time to call this guy. Hopefully he sees this post.

reset the ecu? Did he try that first? I think the SRS system might need to be reset by the dealer if you can't get it to go away on your own.

did he turn the ignition on before connecting the SRS connector to the airbag? IF he did that, then sure SRS light will stay on.

Here ya go, i just did a jdm Type R SRS wheel install on my teg and cleared the srs light using this from the helms...you can use a paperclip or piece of wire instead of the service clip or whatever they call it, i used a paperclip and it worked fine, no more srs light...
