rear control arm
Has anyone had problems with the large bushing that the rear control arm pivots on cracking and coming apart. If so I was wondering if energy suspension sells a replacement for it like the engine mount kit?
i think you're talking about the trailing arm bushing. and yes, those wear out. at 150,00 miles mine is toast, and I replaced it with the mugen piece. energy suspension does make one, but I do not like how it performs. it loads up on you and causes snap oversteer when it finally unwinds.
I dont think there bushing are polyurethane. I doubt it, but energy makes bushing for every part of your suspension, and they use polyurethane that self lubricate to give you the ultimate feel.
those #$%%$# trailing arms bushings are a piece of
#@##. At 80000 miles when I bought my acura they were already wasted and I still havent changed them because I havent had the time or the money, I hear all these great things about the integra, but mine has been a constant many trap

its a car, you drive it hard... its always going to be a money trap... just think you could drive a really nice leak box like my chevy... sure it runs 11s or 12s (unproven) if you can keep fluids in it
I always go by the principals of replacing any bushing that has to pivot with OEM replacements and all the bushings that bear load with urethane (example) the bushing you speak of would be OEM while the bushings that the shock bolts go through would be urethane
I dont know why honda made bushings that have to pivot, to me thats the stupidest idea ever created and I hope they know this
bushings should have a metal outer sleeve, some sort of rubber stuff in the middle and a central metal core that a bolt runs through or something along those basic lines... all the rubber crap should have to do is keep the metal core in the center and allow the unit to pivot on the bolt...

your theory would work except for the fact that the trailing arm bushing has to be compliant on more than one axis. It is not just a simple pivot.

your kidding right?
nope im retarded and so is honda suspension...
I dont know why I always thought it was a plain pivot I mean duh... solid LCA = atleast 2 axis movment... that would explain why my rear track is dependant on ride height

Yeah, a LCA from a 92-95 Civic (with disc brakes I believe) will work but it doesn't have the sway bar mount, so no sway for you! Or lots of sway for you! Depends on how you look at it..

92-95 4dr EX civic has the rear sway tab , so do Del Sol VTECs.

yes you can Captain obvious , with that install you need to change your shocks out due to a different mounting configuration.

Well I purchased a rear disc conversion for my crx and both those bushings were cracked. I have seen some aftermarket ones for sale though. I got mine for about $40 each from Honda....
take it easy bro.
I didnt say I thought the car was a piece of #$$#.I merely stated the fact that this particular model seems to require an awful lot of maintenance for a usually low maintenance vehicle. Let me give you an example. Before i do , let me assure you I am not talking out of my ***, I was a honda tech, do I know everything, no , but as an example the acura I own has a steering problem that is getting progressively worse. I took it to several shops, nobody could ascertain what the problem was. I ended taking the educated advise of a former colleague who owns a shop and replaced the rack and pinion. Nothing changed. I was aware of a TSB(technical service bulletin) 94010. I tried to obtain information considering it was about a steering wheel shimmy / shake. To make a long story short, Acura doesnt release that information publicly. I ended up taking it to an acura dealer today ,went to the service manager , and had him look up the tbs. It was not applicable to my particular problem. Solution, i am taking it in tomorrow at 8 am to have them diagnose the problem . 83 dollars just to check it, the fee being waved if I have them repair it, fat chance of that. I am a firm believer in using general acura replacement parts, but not purchasing them from the dealer and having them install them. Acuras for the most part are great cars, but this particular one has had numerous problems that may or may not be attributed to my driving habits. Nonetheless, having spent as much as I did on the car and all the maintenance that has been done to I it , I feel I have the right to voice my dissappointment with this particular model. After all, it is just a car , but it is a vital part of all of our daily existence(a). So relax, nothing against acuras, just against poorly manufactured parts.
