I have been working on Hondas since I was 15....friends cars, relatives cars....after a while its common sense. Some things, like rebuilding a motor, also take time but once you know what you are doing you should be alright. Trial and error is the name of the game. I had a part time job at a performance shop doing this and that....pretty much whatever the boss told me to from installing VAFC's to turbo kits.....

i am sorry i disagree with that. if you try, thats good but if noone is there telling you wrong from right, all you are doing is developing bad habbits. i am not saying, you cant learn by teaching yourself, i am saying it is good to have a teacher. i learned at a vo-tech highschool. never went to a place like uti or anything, but i was always good with my hands. not arguing, but if all you are doing is developing bad habbits, thats bad. what helps out the most, is asking questions. no matter how small or mundane or stupid. if you dont know ask. i have friends that can quote me the service manual, put a wrench in their hands, run like hell. experience is the best thing. i have been doin this for 12 years now. damn i feel old.
