Default How much can a b16 be bored out?

Hello,

I was wondering what the maximum a b16 block can be bored out to if you are planning on getting some aftermarket sleeves anyways. It seems like you could save some money if it could be bored to something approaching 1.8l while maintaining the b16 rod ratio.

Thanks.

service manual that i have says the max that can be bored out for the B17A1 is .25mm over. i assume it is the same for the B16? with aftermarket sleeves, i'm not sure.

Bert,
If you want a 1.8 with the B16 R/S ratio, take a B20 block, put in a B17 crank, Endyn rods/pistons, B18C block girdle and oil squirters and you'll be all set. The final cost is probably less than resleeving, not to mention having to get custom pistoons made for the application...

my 2 cents would be the most to bore it with aftermarket sleeves is to a 85mm 1mm over the stock b20b so you can retain a 1.74 r/s ratio and still be a 1.9 liter if my estamating is correct. Don't feel like doing the math.
