sometimes when i go to a stop and i go to 1st gear or reverse, it wont let me and i have to release n press the clutch again so it would go in. is this normal.

Is your car new because when i first bought mine it wouldn't go into reverse sometimes so i would stick it in fourth then go to reverse. Now everything is working fine!

Don't worry about it. My Gsr does that too. If you want to put it into reverse and it won't let you, just put it into first and then it should go into reverse. The tranny in our car sucks ***.

Yes, mine does that as well... and so did my friend's ('95 LS)
You can either double pump the clutch before going into reverse... or like they said before... go into fourth and then into reverse.

It's just a safety measure to protect morons from going into Reverse when they are driving around on the streets, or downshifting into first from fifth. You'd be surprised how awesome honda trannies are, they hold a ton of power without breaking.
