Default dipstick dry, oil is still there.

okay, i am having a weiiiiird *** problem, once again...i checked my oil today, and my dipstick was dry, i mean completely DRY, no oil on the damn thing. i figure something is wrong, because i just changed the oil, so i drain all the oil out of the pan...low and behold, i still got 4 quarts of oil!!! why the hell is the dipstick not registering the oil? also, i am not sure if this is my LS dipstick or my b16 dipstick...i have a b16 motor, but would using the LS dipstick cause this issue?

Go to the parts counter at the dealer and tell then you need a longer dip stick.

Are you checking your oil while it is cold and been sitting or right after you hav run it and turned it off, I have seen sooooo many people check their oil after running it, it takes awhile for the oil to settle back down to the pan. Also if oil is at the minimum level it is 1 quart low, very bottom may be 1 1/2 quart low. THe car should take 4.5 quarts total anyways. If you fill your oil filter up before putting it on you can get about 5 quarts and be at the max level also.
