what pistons to get with turbo.
I am going to be going turbo soon and I am cooking oil like crazy. The car has 117 k miles on it and I was wondering
what pistons I should get. I might as well replace the valves springs and retainers, or should i not? what else should
I do while the pistons are out and where can i get the best prices? what rods should i be looking at.
Thanks
Luis

+that is what i was thinking of doing the spring and valves. Where can I get these items at a good price? And what type of gains should i see even though there is no turbo installed yet. thanks

What vavles and spring should i do.

I am in the process of building my best friend's 1992 Civic Hatch w/ GSR motor right now! I decided to run 81.5mm JE 9.0:1 CR pistons and Eagle rods! This should be a pretty bad *** setup since I am building the turbo kit for it also!
je's are nice if your gona run 10psi or more drop the compression ratio down a half point

You can do Eagle rods and Endyn RW pistons for WELL under $1k... and you can get them in 81.001mm for stock bore... or you can go the conventional route if you want conventional power. By the way... word is that the 9.?:1 compression RW's make more power across the board than the stock 10:1s do on a NA motor... hence, more off boost torque... Hate Endyn or not, take it or leave it...

I still think Larry at endyn is a good guy no matter what popular opinion is.
Either way wiseco makes the pistons and the design is proven. I thought the RW pistons only came overbore though.... I did not think you could get stock bore.

Even tho Endyne may have mislead alot of people, the RW pistons work. I dont love him or hate him but I do know that the pistons and rods work period. Other than that I could care less about the guy.

I plan on running low to mid 12's I think I am doing jg spring valves retainer. je piston 10:1, 9.5:1 (need help on , and crower rods.
I was running JE 9:1 on my d16z6. The bottom end sucked a$$..but with 18psi boost it was pretty awesome. I could run 15-18psi with 91 octane pump gas and stock ignition timing...ran very nice.

That was my point Art... They(RWs) seem to be the best thing out there right now by leaps and bounds... I'd rather eat crow and be first, than let my opinions of them put me in last... and I particularly like the fact the they are reportedly so detination resistant... got a set going in my 2000' ITR when I ever get around to bolting up a turbo...
Dustin, per Endyn last week, they now sell .001 over for "OE" bore...

9.0:1 is laggy enough on a torqueless 1.8L motor

Though I won't know for sure till I take the R apart some time in the future (right now its pretty much stock, but approaching 100K miles).
Thanks, ed.
Would you care to post a link or something as to where I can find more info on these.
Thanks, ed.
