HELP!! 2 ECUs and none of them work w/ my swap.
Well I just completed a 98 USDM B18C1 swap into my 92 CX hatch. I used the OBD2 engine harness and plugged it in to my OBD1 car harness. Well I plugged in a OBD1 P72 ECU w/ Skunk2 Program and it starts up and runs but then throws a CEL. When I check for a code nothing happens.
So now I have to drive around w/ a stock P28 that has my car riding lean and VTEC engagement sucks. But there is no CELs.
I go ahead and buy a Skunk2 program from a Ebay seller that a friend recommended for a P28. I get the stock P28 chipped and it throws a CEL from the beginning. Never driven the car w/ the chip. When I check the code, again nothing happens. So he unchips the P28 and I'm stock riding in b#$ch mode.
So I figure the guy doesn't know what he's doing and I get my friend that has the chipped P72 to try and reinstall the chip and the SAME thing happens again.
Basically am I missing some sensor or wire that needs to be hooked up?? I keep hearing about knock sensor but I also hear that the Skunk2 program disables knock sensor.
I have no clue what's wrong and I'm hoping this has happened to someone and they know the solution.

Do any of these ecu's work in another car like yours? i don't understand why you can't get any codes. I used the same engine harness in my 92 cx, but i swapped a b16a2 and not the gsr, i have a few extra plugs that are not used.
what happens when you jump the service connector? does the cel stay on or does it come on and then go out and not come back on?

what chip did you reinstall? if the p72 was already chipped why did you change it? also did you try a stock p72 ecu yet?

You're using an OBD-2 engine with an OBD-2 harness and an OBD-1 ECU. The answer to the problem should be fairly straight forward. Either buy the conversion harness, or convert the entire car to OBD-2 and get the proper ECU.
That is not his problem, I'm using and obd2 engine, obd2 engine harness, obd 1 ecu and obd 1 car wiring. no problems
he didn't used an obd2's car wiring so an obd 1 ecu plugs right in just like stock, since the stock ecu is obd 1 and so is the wiring, the harness is to use an obd 2 ecu on an obd 1 set up, hes using obd 1 ecu and obd 1 car wiring. the 0bd 2 harness he is using is under the hood only.

I got the P28 to work. The ebay seller sent another Skunk2 program. When installed the car fired up right. The car runs soo good now. The problem w/ the chipped P72 was the IAB that was never wired up. The P28 doesn't look for IAB and it works beautifully.
