Default Question for those that have powerslot rotors or something similar?......

I have powerslot rotors on my gsr along with aem brake pads. They have been installed for about 2months now. Recently, they have started making a squeeking sound when I step on the brakes! I don't brake hard at all, only around town driving. Why are they squeeking? Are they supposed to because of the different pad material? Has anyone else experienced the same thing? Help me out!
Thanks.
JEFF

Hey, I have Power Stop drilled rotors on my GSR with Hawke pads, and they squeal alot especially when theyre cold. Once they get warmed up they are fine though. Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. I guess they make a different sound due to the different composition of materials in relation to stock pads. Anyway I guess mine aren't the only ones that squeel a little. Does anyone else have some info?

that was my setup last year too.. powerslots and AEM all around.
they squeeked in the cold, and during the first stop of the day too.

you may have a problem if they squeek when warmed up though, you may need to check the clips that hold the pads in, and bend them to hold the pad securely.
Another thing is that maybe your calipers are prone to making squeeky/rattling pads, so apply some anti-rattle goop to the back of the pads.

oh yeah another thing, did you remember to use the OEM anti-rattle clips on the back of the pads for your AEM pads? if not then you should get/find/buy/salvage them and put them on the AEMs.

HTH...

I've heard that brake dust can do this if it builds up enough. Do you wash your wheels a lot? I was considering getting cross drilled rotors next time that I need them. Are the Power Slots a good deal for the money? Can you stoop any faster? Also I heard that slotted rotors wear down the pads quicker, is that true?
