Default brake cylinder boot

When my brake cylinder is pushed into the caliper, the boot seems distorded. Is there a way to fix this or do I have to buy a new caliper and it starts to leak?

That's a dust boot to keep the actual piston seal clean. It's supposed to spin/slide in it's groove, but it usually gets stuck. If you twisted the piston a bit when you pushed it in, the boot wrinkles. Of course on the rear it HAS to spin because you have to twist the pistons in.

Try to slide it around to straighten it, but be careful not to tear it... As long as your other brakes aren't apart, you can push the brake pedal a bit to push the piston out. Then straighten the boot, & push it back in straight.

Won't my brake leaks if I take the piston out or is there another part that pushes on the piston?

Yes, if you keep pumping, you'll blow the piston all the way out. I didn't mean to pump the pedal that much. Just enough so you can work the dust boot around & straighten it.

Why does my rear brake cylinder twist out instead of just pushes out like my front brake? Why is it like that?
