Default ign. timing question

stupid question: how does advancing the timing actually add power. Would this maybe correct my fuel problem (Im running rich as hell and exhaust deposits are staining my rear bumper). How much would a dealership charge to check/advance the deposit. I know its kinda a DIY job but im noid about f*cking something up and dont have a timing light on hand.

Obviously, timing and ignition are two different amimals!

What have you done to your car?

Are you running an aftermarket CAt or a "test pipe".
Test Pipe = stained/blackened rear bumper cover!

Advancing your timing won't correct your problem of leaving deposits on your rear bumper. That's fuel or oil related, this is ignition.

since the unburnt fuel is being deposited i was just wondering if advancing the ign. would create a better/hotter spark, therefore burning more fuel. I still cant figure out how advancing the ign. would make more power. i guess i just need to quit being a cheap *** and go invest in a vafc2

BTW im running Denso iridium plugs
