Ok i'm going autoxing tommorow, but i got 2 ?s
Ok i have an aem cai. im most probably gonna be kicked out of GS right? But, i left my resonator at home, and i just have the piping from the TB to the airbox and that's it. ANd iwas at scca's site and they said aftermarket filters are ok, as long as there are "no changes to the plumbing" so then i think im screwed either way, eh? - edit - figure if im gonna get raped in like STS, i might as well do it with the cai...
also, what tire pressures should i go with? ( i know i should do a search but i figure i'll kill 2 birds w/ 1 stone ). 40/40? Or maybe some over steer so 40F/35 R?

just for fun, which is why i dont really care which class im put into. But i sorta do want a trophy hehehe
You can't run legally in GS, but usually the tech inspectors aren't picky, they're mostly looking for damage on the car. However I don't know how many friends you would make in GS if your fellow compeditors found out about your CAI. It is an unfair advantage. You don't want to go there and get a bad rep in the process. GS only allows free choice of component on about 6 areas of the car:
1 Brake Pads
2 Cat-back Exhaust
3 Air Filter unit
4 Any wheel as long as it retains the stock wheels' dimensions
5 R-compound tires are allowed
6 Free choice of shock absorbers (GAB are allowed for instance)
Otherwise you can play with camber a little. I don't know the official policy on tuning though. That's just one mod that I've heard about.
Anyways, Yes you're screwed, prepare to be violated in STS with your CAI. Now tire pressures are purely a personal matter that varies with your driving style. I would suggest starting at 39F 37R and then going from there, adjusting up or down according to your personal preference. Bring a tire gauge and check the pressures after each run, they will change as the tire heats up. Adjust accordingly. Have fun!

I told you this like 3 times, YOU WONT BE IN STS >
you WILL be in SM or CSP......unless they are gonna let you run in GS which they might because it's just for fun basically, GS-N , for Novice

If its just for fun and you want a trophy run Novice. My friend visiting from Europe drove my car for an hour before and then raced and took 2nd place in Novice. You should dominate in the R. Good luck!
Hmm, well i said i'd swap in my stock intake assembly, but if the lack of the resonator is still going to disqualify my from GS then **** it, i'll run with the aem.
If i run novice, can i still use the aem? Or i have to use the stock box? I just dont feel like lugging the intake over there and swapping it in that morning u know?

Just run NOVICE, if you're doing it for the 1st or 2nd time. They really don't care what you have in the car in novice class. Just see what your car is capable of. Next year, either take out the intake and run DS (which it'll most likely be) or run some modified class. G'luck

Hey guys...update: pix at my site http://www.geocities.com/jayhan925 (im in the process of uploading..thre should be around 6-7 pages when im done)
I was classed in STS...cuz of my aem. I dont really care since I ran Novice. All in all it was friggin so much fun. I've got to learn how to brake tho, the first time i around i dont think i used the brake at all lol. here's the map of the course:
I won novice class (my raw times were good enough to have won Gstock, csp, and sts) but I'm sorta confused on that whole PAX index...
also, u can see on the left of the map that big sweeping curve...i took that pretty hard, and i heard somet thumping that sounded like abs but i wasnt on the brake. LSD, correct?
