Default Racing Camshafts

Are they really worth buying for the 1.6L sohc si motor? I have I/H/E and I'm wondering if it would be worth while to get a JD camshaft for it I doubt Id see much for gains but does anyone have any experience with them?

YES, i had a gude cam and ecu and some other bolt-ons on my d16 back in the day. It was running 15.0's at like 93-95mph on street tires all day with shitty 60' ft times. It ran really strong before i decided to go b-series. It also had a lumpy-*** idle which made it sound pretty cool too

What are your plans for the car?

Many "racing" cams require upgraded valvesprings, and sometime other internals. Also, since it is a SOHC non-VTEC engine, your fuel mileage and low-end power will suffer and your idle will not be smooth.

If you daily drive your car, I would suggest going with a slightly more aggressive street or street/strip type cam. A full race cam wouldn't be a good idea.

The cam list that Sideout linked to is very informative. You may also want to try a search.

I actually ment a JG camshaft but what I had planned to do was just keep the motor I/H/E and a camshaft and eventually swap the motor out.

If you're going to swap the engine, why waste money on parts that you can't use on the new engine?
