Default cold start on mini-me

i know this has probably been talked about b4, but when i did a search, every post i read doesn't have a solution. So i need to post my problem...and hopefully u guys/gals can help.

I have a d16z6 block, and d16y8 head. i used the OBD 0 harness, but made a jumper harness to obd 1 p28 ecu.

Now the problem. When the engine is cold, it doesn't start very well. Sometimes it takes me like 5-8 minutes to start. It will crank, sometimes even turn over, but then it'll stutter and die. The more i try to start it the better it gets, until finally it runs fine, but i still have to let it warm up or else it'll sputter (not die) when i step on the gas.

The thing is when the engine is warm it will start up no problem. No hesitation, nothing. Basically like the car is normal.

I do have a check engine light... it shows 6 and 7, and sometimes 10, but the 10 i'm not worried about. On a P28 i believe they are Tps? and FITV? or IACV? Should i have those sensors replaced?
any info or ideas would be very very helpful!!! thanx!!

6=ECT (Engine Coolant Temp sensor)
7=TPS
10=IAT (Intake Air Temp sensor)

From the conditions you explained, seems like the ECT may be your culprit.

They can all be the problem. Without the temp sensors the engine will run in an extreme rich condition, along with the tps a car can be very hard to start. it sounds like you have a wiring issue not a sensor issue, as they rarely go out.

Buy a Helms or find one online and check your sensors. Cehck your wiring and make sure the wires are going to the right pins on the ECU.

Another idea you might want to try. Ya know how diesels have core heaters for the winter? Before you go to bed, wrap an electric blanket around your engine and plug it in. That way, in the morning, your engine won't be cold! Good idea, right? Right guys? ..........no?
