is there a certain rpm range when u 1st start ur car??
just wondering is there a certain range the rpm should be around when it warms up? mine seem to be a bit high than it use to be a few months ago, i can hear the engine from inside my house which is like 30ft away clearly, have around mid 90k on it... weather here is usually around 60deg-55deg recently, just changed my oil also... t.i.a.
depends how cold the engine is, my engine idles around 1.5k from a cold start then drops down as it warms up, eventually settling at 650-750 rpms.
does it ever fly over 1.5?? mines jump pretty darn high lately, and recently on normal driving conditions, it feels as if the car is under high stress trying to go over 75mph..cant figure out what could be the problem...
have you tried resetting the ecu? i think i had that high stress problem you're referring to: like around 70-75mph the car would just start bogging down and i'd practically have to floor it to maintain speed. i never really figured out the problem but i figured it was just atmospheric issues messing with the air/fuel ratio, and after resetting the ecu i havent had that problem again.
not sure about the rpm's though....i never really pay attention to them during start up...it might be as high as 2k rpm after a cold start...how high is your's shooting up to exactly?

When I first start in the morning it fast idles at 1500 on the nose, then as it warms up it gradually goes down to 750-800 idle.
what year is your car? i know 3rd gen accords had a fast idle set to about 1500 rpms... my 6th gen idles at about 1000 rpms if it's cold enough outside, and then drops back to 750. (below 55 degrees is cold here). i'm not sure about 4th and 5th gens, but i imagine it's probably between 1200 and 1500.

its a 5th gen, it warms up at 2k or a little over depending on weathers, isnt that a little too high? is there a way to lower that sucker like you can with the idle by anychance?
back from the dead.
cars still starts up around 2200-2500, anyone know what can cause this? sprayed the TB/butterfly with carb cleaner, reset my ecu, still does it frequently... would running too rich or lean cause this? any help would be appreciated thanks.

yo after i swaped the engine on my 4th generation my rpm don't go up when the car is cold. when i start it in the morning they just stay at 1000rpm. before i swaped the engine it used to go up to 1600rpm.
where can i fix it so it can go up to the 1500rpm when i start in the morning.
i swaped the engine for a stock f22a

mine is also in the 1.5-1.75k RPM range when warming up, and drops to .5k RPM once warm enough.
2k-2.5k RPM definitly seems like too high of an idle.
EDIT: just noticed this was brought back from so long ago, and noticed you said you reset the ECU.
my post is officially useless

thats the funny thing, i reset my ecu many times already, same thing, adjusted my idle many times also still the same... anyone know a solution?
could a auto-start somehow be a part of the problem? i do have one installed.

Honda Accords have always been notorious for high idle during warm up. The older the engine the worse it gets. Had an 89' Accord auto that would be @ 2000 while warming up, so high that you wouldn't want to put it in gear....! Once it had been running for about 40 seconds I would just tap the gas pedal and the needle would drop and stay.
My 97 has gotten progressively worse. Took it to the shop last year and something was different and could never figure it out. When I start it and its cold (engine) it goes up and down constantly till it is warm. Really annoying. Say a flux between 1000 and 2000.

My 93 Accord started doing the same after I had the timing belt, clutch and flywheel replaced. In addition if I happen to be driving on the highway (which is most always around here), as the engine starts to cool a bit it starts idling at higher rpms once again. This combined with a sputtering idle problem and a horrible squealing noise (as if someone's strangling a cat under the hood and both only after the engine has warmed up) have made not so much fun to drive of late. I took it back to the shop that did the work and at first they said they adjusted the belts. The next time around they said they didn't know what it was but to bring it back if it gets worse. How much worse does it have to get I wonder.
yea i have adjusted it, but not with a handheld so i left it at 500 instead of trying for 750 without a real tach...
ive completly took off my tb the other day and literally sprayed every edge and side of the tb with cleaners, it seems to be ok now but it just idles a little above 500 now so i guess its normal for now... starts up at 2k for like 3 seconds then it goes to normal... so i thin kthe problem is solved....
thanks for the help!
