Default '98 Civic Type R - Blue Smoke

Hi, I own a 1998 Civic Type R (EK9), it has 39,000 miles on the clock and seem to get blue smoke from the exhaust on gear change/pulling away from traffic lights. I believe this is burning oil, but why? Can anyone suggest any bits that need checking as its booked in to be looked at next week.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve it?

Thanks,
Rick

i second the headgasket... might even just be that the headbolts aren't torqued on right...

It's not your headgasket.
More than likely it's your rings. If it was a bad headgasket you'd be burning coolant, which would be white smoke.

Thanks again guys!!! Will speak to Honda this weekend, I believe it is a long job to do, that means more money, arhhhh!!! Other then that i will stop using the blue oil, ha ha ha.

Yeah is a '98 CTR in black, there isn't many here in the UK, but if there is they are always White. I tell u what, wish I was over there want to see the drag racing etc....as there isn't much that happens here, I mean once every few months we have a drag racing event on an old airfield thats about it, the rest is street racing.

Thanks,
Rik
