i've been starting to look into cams for my z6...and wanted some personal feedback from people who have put cams in their z6's. im looking for a cam to give me some more top end and i can deal w/ sacrificing some down low driveability. im also going to be spraying a 55 shot on the motor. anyways, any feedback on experiences w/ diff. cams would be great. thanks.

 

nothing but good reviews from the zex 59300, street/strip cam

 

hows the 59300 on a turbo car? i too am very interested in hearing some feedback on local Z6 cam owners. the 59300 is the only one i ever hear about.\

I wouldn't suggest using the 59300 cam in a turbo car because it is an all motor and nitrous cam. If I was you I would get a nice turbo cam.

also, would it be a good idea for me to build the head a little, or would i be fine on a stock valve/spring setup?

 

i read somewhere that the 59300 didnt help that much. i could be, and probably am, wrong. was just something i heard somewhere. I'm curious about it too. ive also heard that you need to get springs and retainers to run the cam for a good amount of time

i read that it didnt help much over the d15b cam cause its already more agressive than a z6 cam. springs are highly reccomended, but ti retainers arent all that necessary if u keep the revs at 7500-7800max( and they are a wear item). as far as building or machining the head, milling, 3 or 5 angle vavlejob...whatever you do is gonna be more pronounced with a cam rather then with a stock cam. dont forget an adj camgear and some ecu tuning to raise up that rev limit to take advantage of the 59300's 7800rpm powerband...
