For those who did the 9006>9005 conversion...
what kind of bulbs and wattage are you running? im planning on gettin bulbs that are 12V 65W Output @ 100W. is that safe to run? also, post pics of ur setup if u have.
thanks
thanks
i had the conversion and i could not tell a difference between that and my hyper white bulbs. so i just put the hypers back in so i had high beams too.
I did the conversion with Cool Blue bulbs and they look / work great. The only problem is that the bulbs do not last very long. IMHO I wouldn't use any high wattage bulbs. Most people on here seem to prefer the Cool Blue bulbs or the Silver Star bulbs.

You put your old bulbs back so you would still have highbeams? Uhh why didn't you buy 9005 bulbs and do the conversion, then you would still have highbeams AND more light.
9005 0wnz 9006 bulbs. I would not use high wattage ones either, just use stock wattage which is actually 60W. Regular 9005 = 60W and 9006 = 51W.
And there is no such thing as 100W output. Wattage is not a measure of light output, and that kind of advertising on bulb packaging is straight lies. If they are 65W nominal (60W actual) like OEM bulbs, and have any sort of blue coating, they WILL put out LESS light than plain clear 60W 9005's. There's just no getting around that, sorry.

I did the Silverstar 9005 conversion about 6 months ago and noticed a big difference. I had tried some of those other bulbs like PIAA and Showoff, but light increase was minimal. In my opinion for 30 bucks you can't go wrong.
I've actually purchased a H.I.D. kit, but I'm waiting until Christmas to give it to myself
. I had no problems with Silverstars, it's just that the ricer side of me is looking for that blue tint.

patrick is right. if you want to avoid melting your oe headlight harness then please stay away from higher wattage bulbs. avoid blue coated bulbs too as they actually output less light (i think patrick mentioned this). i know not everyone can afford HIDs but before i got mine, i used Sylvannia Cool Blues. they were great, never blew out on me... and for the price, you really cant beat it.

I used silverstars, great light output compared to stock...HOWEVER, they blew in around 6 months, which was definitely not worth the 25 bucks a pop I paid for them.
I suggest getting cheaper 9005's if you still want to do the conversion, or if you want to be on the safe side, just get 9006 Silverstars (or HIDS).

you do sum mods to a 9005 bulb and make that fit into ur low beam so now you have a brighter headlight.

i was thinking of getting bulbs by Nokya because they have a great blue tint, i want that HID look and i want them to put out more light. but i was also thinkin of gettin silverstars but you said they only lasted 6 months?? i thought they would last longer than that.
what if i just get stock 9005 bulbs and use those, it would still be better than my 9006 right?

Nokya's do have that "BLUE" effect---HID Look most ricers desire. No way can you claim that they put out more light. Standard yellow halogens are brighter---
FACT: 9006 PIAA SuperWhites actually put out less light than its OE standard counterpart --- It's trash for the money you pay!
Stock 9005 bulbs will still benefit you...now you're talking.
