we had my brothers car in for a motor replacement but kept the existing trans which was fine, except it shifted hard when putting it in gear sometimes, usually in reverse...it is an AT. well anyway when they finished it they said that the trans was bad, when you drive it it starts in 3rd gear...if you shift it manually its fine. you guys think its a bad trans or could be something else? tia.

 

try changing out the tranny fluid first before you go out an buy an new tranny.

 

yea i forgot to ask them if they checked that, its like 2 qts for AT right?

did he drop the trans to look at it? how about the shift linkage. that might be the problem? dunno

 

see i dont really think they inspected the trans cause they assumed it was fine, least it was before they swaped the new motor in. hrmm...bleh stupid autos
