Default mini me timing help

hey guys, i am doing the mini me in a couple of days, and the thing i am worried about is getting the timing correct, do you have any tips on how to do this? from what i understand timing can be by both the distributor and the cam gear. thanks

btw, the stuff i have is: d16y7 block, y8 head (cam, gear, internals), y7 exhaust mani, y8 intake manifold/tb, p2p ecu (gonna wire up the vtec pressure, vtec solenoid, knock sensor, and convert the iacv to a two wire plug), y8 head gasket, y8 timing belt.

thanks again!

There is nothing special you have to do about the timing. Before you take it apart make sure you the crank is at top dead center (white line aligned with timing marker) and the cam gear is lined up so that the word "up" is pointing up. Make sure that when you put it back together make sure everything is still alligned. The only reason you would have to change cam timing is if you were using a Z6 cam in a Y8 head to my knowledge. When finished let the car warm up, check the timing and rotate the distributor so that the red line on the crank lines up with the timing pointer. It is kind of a bitch to get the belt back on in the correct position on the cam gear so it could take a few tries to get it perfect. At least for me it is .
