Default T3/T04E 50 trim VS 54 Trim

Majestic turbo told me that the 50 trim makes more hp than the 54 trim? i thought that the higher up you go in trims the more hp you make but w/ compromised spool up.

he said the 50 trim was a race wheel, and provided nice top end, but the 54 was smoother and didn't deliver as much up top.

what do you guys know about this?

Hmm sounds contradictory to the way I understand it... but majestic turbo knows their stuff.

I think the 50 trim is a very irregular trim. from what i read, it seems to be able to flow more than the rest, and a higher efficiency area than the 54 and 57 trim. moreover, it is more "resistant" to surge. take a look and compare the map; when i called majestic, i actually told them I wanted to upgrade my turbo to .50. However, due to some twist of event, I ended up with a .57 with stage 3 .63a/r.

Robert from Majestic told me that .50 is a race trim as well... *shrug* oh well, I will post pictures when my turbo comes back in the next few days.

Here are *some* answers.

The .50 trim is the ONLY T04E wheel with a 3.00" major diam. The entire rest of the T04E line uses a 2.95" major diam. That accounts for it's difference from the rest of the line. It is the most efficient T04E at (what?) 78% or so?? Very nice spool pattern. Linear up to its max airflow potential. It is my favorite wheel. The .54 has a funky pattern. And I *think* it actually DOES make less airflow than the .50. The .57 only can make about 20 more hp than the .50. And it spool sup slower because the larger inducer diam. means it needs more RPM to "bite" the air.
