Default guess what I found this morning

Well, i woke up to find my fans on my car running full speed, yet slightly slower.. I was like, Ihavent driven the car in over a week.. What the hell? So, I disconnected te battery to get it to stop.. Odd right.. Well, last week the windshield was replaced on my car(and you know where this is going)... Anyways, my passenger side was literally 6" deep in water... Funny right? ECU submerged..

How waterproof are these things? Im going to let it dry out until the windshield guy comes and ty tocrank it with him here.. So, if it works YA, if Not somebody owes me a new ECU! What ******* luck huh? If you guys only knew... Past 6 months Ihave a list that wil blow all of you away...

dang man, your luck has sucked lately!

How'd the windshield get busted to begin with?

I got a spare H23 ECU that would prob. let it at least run, if ya need to borrow it.

Also, I thought I saw you in the Student Activity Center yesterday at a comptuter, but I wasn't sure and I was scrambling to get a paper done in 10 minutes.....good luck, and see ya lata!

with a lot of electronics it is possible to just let a part dry out and then clean it. ive used a multipurpose lubricant called triflow on the circuit board of many car audio parts that customers have spilled liquid on.
unfortunatly unlike an amp it isnt simple, if posible at all, to test the ecu on the bench. even if you can clean it up you have no way of knowing if you have a blown part. if it were something else i would say just clean and hook it up and if its screwed oh well, but not in this case. it isnt worth the risk of it malfunctioning and having it affect something else major.

so i definately agree with lone luder, make the people that did the half *** job to begin with replace it.

yeah get them to replace it if possible.

What I would do... if it isn't fried since it had some power going to it while wet....
Get some distilled water and sink it in that. try to get everything good and rinsed with the distilled water. Then let it dry fully before reconnecting it. The distilled water will minimize the corrosion. I know this works with other types of electronics so I don't see why an ECU would be any different. If nothing got shorted out before it should be fine. Just letting the normal /rain water dry on it will have minerals and stuff in it. This will build up on the contacts and **** things up. The distilled water won't have all this in it so it will dry much cleaner.

Open it up and see if any water is inside, though there probably is. Rinse it out with *distilled* water, then put the board on something warm, like a heating pad. Let it sit there long enough to really let everything dry out. There's a good chance it'll be fine, just make sure it's distilled water and *not* de-ionized.

I am going to post my luck with the car and see if anyone can tell me its not possessed...

First off, kauffman royally fucked my rims and dropped my car off a lift in June... Engine blew about 4 miles down the road and Kauffman claimed no fault to either... I didnt sue, my mistake though... Placed h22a in there... Transmission was no good, had to swap that one out. Then, 100 miles after the swap my autotensioner decided to crap out on me. I felt it, heard it, and only skipped about 3 teeth getting it back home going 10 mph that 2 mile trip... Got that all fixed up and my vtec soleniod wire mysteriously seperated under a protective cover and left me baffled for a week.. Then my sunroof decided to start opening everytime I cut the car off... Mysteriously it quit after abuto 3 days... Then one of my injectors sprang a leak because a O-ring ripped and I had gas going everywhere.. That was fun... Next, my car decided after 1 month of being ok with a new engine it would decide to start overheating.. Bleeding took 3 hours to get it right and a new thermostat...Then, my car caught on fire at Nopi melting the battery to the ground.. We tore the hood off trying to get to it... Next, my hood decided to fly up on me going down the road.. Destroyed my windshield(hence replacement), destroyed my hood, bent my fender, dented my roof. In the proccess I hit the curb and further bent my rims... Insurance covered this incident although they have been a PITA to work with. Then, my tire blew out on the bent rim going abuot 70 mph. Then, i put on the spare and it blew out a mile down the road. Then, the tow truck guy couldnt get my car on the bed cause it sits to low. He ended up scraping the hell out of it. Then, it decided to refuse to run for me. Now, it will crank on occasion and runs very rich. Today I was supposed to diagnose the problem and fix it. Instead, after letting the car sit for a week I find the fans running and the car full of water. I am still without one tire and the car just dies right now. The guy is supposed to come over and fix the windshield now and we will go from there abuot a new p13 ECU....

So, I am sure I left a few things off.. But thats already a list that most of you cant say youve experienced since Late June....

Honestly, after the money, time, and effort I have put into my baby I dont wanna sell her.. My dad has a 1951 austin Healy convertible just like the one you see in austin powers thats painted like the british flag.... It did the same to him when he was about my age.. 23.. so 3 yr difference.. But anyway, it sits in the backyard to this day.. He wont sell it or let it have the satisfaction of winning... Im not one to give up easily... I just need to get it running ASAP....

Mistake #1: Dealing with KMS. LOL John CAN DO some good work, but it's just so time consuming trying to deal with him.

Hell, you probably have half my stolen parts on your car right now. Hahahaha... that's why you've been having shitty luck bro!

Next time you go up to KMS... look around and see if you can find my old pistons, my H23A pistons and rods, and one of my motor mounts. LOL

The thing is that your fans don't have anything to do with your ECU. Your fan switch is on the thermostat and the other fan should be the AC fan which only turns on when the AC is on...
