Ignitor Coil bad?
After finishing the 94EX swap into a 92LX, car ran perfect until the next day. Now there's no spark coming from the ignitor coil. If I unplug the ignitor coil (the electrical plug, not the spark wire), I get the proper check engine light. So it would seem the ECU thinks the ignitor coil is working properly. However, when putting the wire off the distributor to check for spark, nothing. All I can think of is a bad coil. What do you guys think?
There's an ignitor & there's a coil. They aren't the same thing. Check in a repair manual for the proper resistance in the 2 circuits of the coil; you can check that with an ohm-meter. The manual will probably call the ignitor by it's proper name, the ignition control module.
Yea, I DO have the Helms manual and it calls it the Ignitor Coil. I found one locally for $25 at the junk yard so I'll try that and see if I can get a spark of life out of the stupid engine.
