just recently my 2nd gear has been grinding really bad if i shift hard or anything over 5000. if i shift slow or below that then it is fine. it seems harder to put into that gear. then i noticed that 3rd gear is starting to grind too if i shift around 6000 or so. it goes into first gear fine and drives fine below those rpms. so what do you think is wrong. kinda ironic that these both started to go bad at the same time. i am not sure if it is the clutch because i had it replaced 3 months ago with an ACT plus it engages and drives fine below those high rpms. is there anything that i can check for. i have replaced the fluid and checked the clutch fluid also. I NEED HELP
you have bad synchros..the most infamous of all honda problems in my book
edit: drain and replace your tranny fluid with some gm synchromesh..that might help a bit

that sucks, i had a slight grind into second for a few months, then all the sudden it would grind everytime i put it in no matter if i was running hard or not...
then i would pop out of 2nd gear whenever it felt like it...for about 3 months i was skipping 2nd gear all together...that wasnt fun
got a new tranny

When i first bought my first new car (98 civic) it started grinding in 3rd and then it got so bad i had to skip it and go directly to 4th. So Honda fixed it for me under warrenty.
When they opened the tranny they saw that 4th was going bad too. The guy said that a part of 3rd gear broke and messed 4th up to.
The point is fix it sonner then you think.

no you can take the it apart they are locked by together but can be removed. you might be thinking of the gear on the countershaft, cause thats 3rd gear to. gears comes in a set of two
