the motor, the tranny , axles, ecu... etc.

basically no harder then swapping in a stock motor.

here. we went into this swap about the middle of this thread. on what else is needed and what routes to go for ecu and electrical... hope it helps.

Actually the hydro tranny from the Y8 would be a little harder to use. The general rule is to use an 88-91 D series cable tranny. Now that HASport has the EF B series hydro mount kit out, you should be able to use the upper tranny mount and actuator parts for a D series tranny in an EF if you wanted.

will a tranny from an 88 dx D15 fit the y8 block? modification necessary or no?

Any 88-91 D series tranny will bolt directly to the block - DX, Si, HF, STD, etc. The tranny to engine bolt pattern are the same for all D series from 88-00. Just use the respected flywheel and clutch component combo for the type and year tranny you use.
