Default Tach/Vtec Not working well

Is it possible that the wiring harness containing the tach and vtec wires has gone bad. The tach is very sticky and sometimes doesnt work. Vtec is breaking up as well at 5grand. Anyone got any ideas?

i think i might have a similar problem. i just did a h22a swap, into a 93 prelude and vtec is not engaging, and I'm getting a CEL code 22. Also, the tach does not work at all.

anyone have info on whether the two are connected?
