Default burning oil

has anybody had a problem with msd sci ignition. i noticed when it was hooked up my car was burning oil, now i removed it and it still burns oil, could this have messed up the head gasket or piston rings. a month before that my igniter was loose and my car was miss firing. Ive checked the grommets on the valve cover and i have a little bit of oil on the top of my transmission looks like it coming from the head gasket. could there be any other problems that would make the engine burn oil.

sounds like it was having issues before and after. i hardly doubt an ignition would fry your piston rings.

i think that you may be running lean and therefor engine is getting hotter and thus burning more oil. Oil breaksdown at different temps and i am only guessing that maybe high temps are doing it.

ignition has nothing to do with oil. are you sure is burning and not leaking?
if so, do a compression test.
btw: when was the last ime you did a valve adjustment?
