spring rate
what does the spring rate mean?? if spring rate is high, would the car be more stiff? trying to figure out the best spring for me. any suggestions?? i don't want it too stiff cuz my area is kinda bumpy. thought about eibach, but people in HT told me i might ended up with eneven drop. what i want is 1.3 to 1.5 drop. help me.
springrate i believe is measured by n unit of weight it takes to compress a spring n units. ie 10 lbs for 1 inch of compression. Therefore higher springrate the more it takes to compress, ergo stiffer ride. I wouldnt go beyong eibach pro-kits, comptech, hr oe, or itr springs if you are worried about a stiff ride.
as for uneven on prokits, yes it does it. it is hardly meant for aesthetics. It's a function over form springs. personally, i think you should get a set of custom springrate coils since you are worried about looks as well as comfort.

h&r sports are comfortable from what im hearing around the board...im in the same boat as u..i dont want a rough ride and my area is like an obstacle course..so im gonna give the sports a shot soon as feb, march rolls around...i was also considering the prokit but its an uneven drop and might leave to much of a gap still for my liking..
Personally, i like it stiffer...my spring rates are high (672 front and 448 back). The roads around here vary from super potholes to pretty smooth, so driving is a bit interesting with these coilovers, but i think it's fun. What are the eibach rates?

for eibach spring, it's 331 lb/in for front, and 126 - 194 lb/in for rear.
i heard some good things about h&r and they are 276 lb/in in the front, and 220 lb/in in the rear. what do they mean??? what's the advantage of having a stiff spring? and disadvange as well.?

I would get stiffer springs if you're going to lower your car. 8k/6k is pretty reasonable on the street. as far as "rough" or "smooth" ride goes...that also has a lot to do with your dampening level. I can change my dampening to make the car feel every bump or to be a lot smoother so rates arent the only thing that make rough/smooth ride.
