Default Lightened or Lightweight axles

To me this is a huge "next frontier" in Hondas. Carbonfiber or some kind of similarly light-weight axles. This would help the car's transient response so much more.

I know many Integra racing teams work the bearing grease with better stuff...this seems like a logical extension.

Personally I think that would be a waste of money. There really not that heavy to begin with and I'm sure if you went any lighter then carbon it would be a lot lighter

you have to realize that the weight of the axle, though heavy, is very near the center of rotation. Therefore, results will not be as good as say a lightened FW, where the weight is farther from the center. Forgot the equation for rotational inertia, but I think you square the radius.

ahh good point.

none the less, you see rear wheel drive cars where the driveshaft weight plays a big role. every little bit counts...

maybe even hollow axle shafts would be a good idea.

type r crank is heavier than gsr crank.
but this is due to more counterweights.
i wonder if it makes any major hp/torque difference
