Forgive my ignorance, but could someone explain the variation between long block and short block please :>

most of the time, a short block will include only the block and internals. No head, etc. A long block usually comes complete with everything except the tranny.

Yeah, such as the head, intake manifold, exhaust manifold sometimes, and most of the sensors.

If you buy new from a honda dealer- a short block is just the block with pistons to oil pan, a long block is a short block with a head and not necessarily the manifolds. Honda doesn't sell long blocks- you have to buy short block and head separately. If you are purchasing from a junkyard or whatever- you should get the details of exactly their "longblock" consists of.
