Default Starting a motor that has been sitting for a year...

I just got a wrecked CRX Si, which had 133k on the odo before it rolled....car has been sitting for a year...just wondering what would be the best way to revive it aside from a complete rebuild(which I don't have the time or money to do, and frankly...don't think it needs it).

Syphon the gas and put some fresh 93 octane in there, check the oil level, and coolant, and grab some starting fluid, and spray it in there. Make sure its not seized up or anything by tryign to turn it over with a breaker bar. Should fire up if its not rusted or anything.

Also, it would'nt hurt to put some oil in the cylinders, pull the vavle-cover and coat the cams/rocker arms, and also get some oil slung around in the block.

It's not necessary, but it sure wouldn't hurt with an engine as dry as yours is...

Crank it over a few times with the ECU unplugged to build up some oil pressure before you try to start it.

Also, change the thermostat now. My engine sat for 2 months, and the thermostat was stuck closed when I put it back in. Major PITA.

well, looks like it's gonna sit a while longer...the car has no fuses!!! the under hood fuse panel is gone, and under where the dash WAS, there's a jumble of wires...so i'll try a different approach...oh and I did try and turn it over by hand...turns easily and you can tell compression is still good.
