ok i had a d15b7 did a mini me swap to it from a d16z6 so now i have the z6 head, i am planing on turboing this car.. how much boost can i run on my stock d15 block without blowing it up and daily driving.. and give me some suggestions on my setup .. thanx

5-7 psi for a daily driver on a stock Z6. for a older D15B i'd stick to < 5psi. The mini me setup is already very cranky. My buddy threw a rod b/c he has 150hp n/a. once you get to around double hp what your car came with you're just asking for trouble.

 

I wouldn't do more than 5 or 6 personally. Although the R/S ratio is better in the D15B7 than the D16Z6, the rods are significantly weaker, so i'd play it safe with low boost unless you felt like building the block. Not to mention, with the B7/Z6 head combination (which I have) your compression is bumped up a full point, creating even more stress in the combustion chamber than before.

Right now i'm working on getting an new clutch and throwing an EX tranny on (absolutely essential, DX transmissions are horseshit). Then, I have a spare d16z6 sitting in my garage so i'm going to build the block with P29's for some ultra high compression y0. Don't think i'm going turbo, at least with this motor.

 

yeah i heard that the ex trannys are good thing to swap in if u are doing a mini me swap. that would be bad *** to build up a SOHC be beating on the DOHC! well keep up the good work

 

with the Z6 head your compression will be 10.2:1-10.4:1 depending on head gasket compared to the stock 9.2:1 which would be better for boost. i would say save yourself the money from the head swap and invest it in something else. i ran all the way up to 10-12 psi on a B15b7 with 150,ooo and only blew a head gasket. (it only took it for a few days mind you)$28 later i was boosted again. 5-7 is pretty safe. with the dx tranny you wont be too dissappointed with boost. you cant shift outta first fast enough and 2nd and 3rd pull good. my friend is now running my turbo kit in a 94 HB and he is running mid 14s @ 7psi with all stock internals,tranny, street tires, etc. not to shabby for $1000.

 

those motors are soo cheap too. i need to buy a cheap *** CRX Si
