Default HELP CEL code 9.

90 Hatch w/ b16a1 and msd ignition
Car threw a couple codes today. 1, 2, 9, 23. Reset the ECU and it was only code 9. Seeing as I have msd ignition, which includes the distributor, what could the problem be? If I do have to replace the dist. Should I get another msd? Thanks

does it still run? Anyway, to answer your question, no you dont have to replace your MSD...unless they're broke.

ya, it still runs fine. Only at idle its a bit messed. It will go down to about 600, then back up to 1200, then down, then up. So what is the problem here? I dont know where to start? or if I have to replace anything.

I forgot what code 9 is but a foul tps sensor will make the engine idle up and down, also check the vacum lines from the top of the intake manifold(make sure there are no vacum leaks)will also cause the same problem

code 9 is the cyp sensor which is located inside the distributor, the only way around the problem is swapping out distributors. or finding a sub housing to replace the old one. if it revs up and down constantly the check the cold start valve.

TPS sensor will not make the idle up and down buddy..
And I doubt you have a vaccumm leak because the fact that the idle going up and down is not high enough.

What harness are you using in the car?

yeah if you cant find a used distributor then yeah you would need a new distributor. i can get brand new ones for like 450 or remanufactured ones for 290 year warranty or i may have a used one for like 200 so let me kow what you want to do

the cold start valve is on the side of the manifold below the throttle body you can take it off and twist inb the srew on the backside underneath the plate that is there or i can get new ones for 80.00 bucks so if you have any more questions let me know

I found a used dissy off a 88-91 crx si. Will this work? It is in good condition, and I can get it for cheap. Ive read some posts on it, but nothing that was more in depth. If anyone knows that would help
