1994 EJ2 Coupe D15B7 Code 9
Ok, so my buddy and I have been working to get rid of this code on his 1994 EJ2 Coupe D15B7 with no luck. Code 9 is Number 1 Cylinder Position Sensor, located in the distributor housing.
Things we have tried:
Changed out the whole distributor three times total, (one OEM, two aftermarket new replacements)
Reset Timing
Reset ECU
Things to be noted:
Code would go away after setting timing to where it idled rough for about 25-45 seconds, than the idle would smooth out and the code would reappear. Besides swapping out the ECU we have done what we can. Also this motor is a fresh rebuild, code was present before the rebuild and was present after the rebuild. The motor runs fine, makes good power, doesn't idle funny, no limp mode, had been in limp mode, than the distributor was replaced and limp mode went away, code remained.
Motor sits with the following modifications
D15B7
Port and Polish on the head
DC Sport Header
MSD Power Tower
MSD 6A
MSD Blaster SS Coil
AEM Short Ram Intake
Any ideas?

Re: 1994 EJ2 Coupe D15B7 Code 9
Check continuity of the two CYL sensor wires (ORN & WHT wires) that run between the distributor connector and the ECU (pins B11 and B12). Also check whether the CYL sensor terminals in the distributor connector, ECU connector, and ECU are damaged or corroded. If all the wires and terminal test fine, then try swapping in a known good ECU.

I'm not trying to bump a really old topic but this was about my car and i figured it out. the 2 wires for the cyl sensor were reversed in the connector. took me almost 2 years to figure it out, i fail.
