Default Overheating and sputtering problems due to lean condition? Look what the dyno shows...

These are the weirdest A/F Ratio Ive ever seen!
Could it be that my car is slightly overheating because of a fuel problem?
Not enough gas making teh engine run too hot?
It seems to overheat the most on the freeway (continous RPMs at 4000).
Also..at under 4000 RPMs it sometimes sputters when I give it gas...like its not getting fuel.

Take a look at the dyno chart...see how some of the runs were WAY LEAN compared to others..even though fuel pressure was the same!

have changed out your radiator fluid recently? did you bleed it correctly? Have you flushed your cooling system?

you are running lean.. **** on some of those plots you never even hit 13:1.

Havnt flushed the radiator lately..or opened up the system..so I dont know why it would have air in it out of nowhere.

Im kind of leaning toward the lean problem...since it brearly overheats...just a tad over normal.

I thought that if you had opened up the system, there might have been some air trapped in there that would cause the overheating. I believe your lean condition/problem lies with your cooling system. The ECU moniters coolant temp and makes fuel/timing changes based on that. Other factors are intake temp etc etc etc. First thing I would do would be to flush the cooling system, refill and bleed properly and see where that gets you.

lean is different for different setups... I think 14-15:1 might be ok with his setup...

Was there detonation?

the sputter could be due to the fact you are running lean, any codes like O2 codes or anything? my civic sputters around 2k-3k and I throw a code 48(O2 heater).

Did you upgrade your radiator? Are you still running the civic single core one?
That could be a problem considering the extreme heat here in AZ. Might want to upgrade to a integra radiator.

No codes.

Im still using the stock HX radiator...but whats weird is that I went through the whole summer without a problem...even with teh AC on for 40 minute rides home from work..and teh water temp never budged.

Im gonan break out the Helms tonight and go through the troubleshooting flow chart and see if I can come up with any solutions.

Was just thinking...I think the water temp is being affected by the fueling and not vice versa because it sputters even when the engine is not overheating.

Liek this morning...I went to leave for work so the engine was cool..but it still sputtered when I pressed the gas to get going. Also..it seems that after I pass 4000 RPMs it doesnt sputter anymore...kind of like the dyno charts show.
What would cause it to only sputter in the low RPMs?

This is just a stab in the dark, but what's your timing set at? My car did the same thing when I retarded the timing too far. Mine was retarded all the way to though (for emmisions testing). It also over-heated a little bit. Only at a stop though.
