So I'm registering for a NASA HPDE...what my car number?
What do I put for car number? Its a required box, and I have no clue what to put. And JoeLee's AFK for the moment, so a simple answer would be appreciated!
Simple anser is to contact the registrar and find a number that is NOT in use. Our basic # is 99 and can be modified for the event if needed (Time Trials use a 3 digit #). Where are you planning to run? If Summit Point with NASA Virginia, get in touch with them directly.
Alright, me = dumbass.
You register it on the Season Schedule page. You can pick one, and its tied to your NASA-NE username (which is different than your NASA username).

HEY! He called me AFK!! WTF is that? LOL.
When you register for an event I thought you had to sign in first and when you register you use YOUR number. Did we change reg?

With NASA-VA, we use a first-come, first serve number assignment. This is why we ask for 3 different choices of car numbers so that if you first one is taken, then we try the second.
If you don't give us a number choice, then I contact you the week before the event to tell you a number that is available.
We are thinking of going to a reservation system for 2004, but this is not yet decided.

The NASA-NE is first come first serve number selection, and its seems as if the number sticks w/ you for the whole season. Its setup online so you can request a number (and hopefully it checks it against a database or something), even without being a NASA member. All you need to reserve your own number is a first name, last name, and an email address. Seems a bit odd, but here's the page:

I got my email confirmation, and used that number to register.
P.S. AFK = away from keyboard. Geek speak.
