Default Question on Car Number.

I was wondering how do you aquire a car #? Or do you just pick the # yourself? I didnt find anything in the NHRA rule book.

Thanks...

I think most people use their last 4 digits of social security #s if the # you want is already chosen.

You gotta sign up for a NHRA membership and then they give you a number...I think you can pick a number after the 1st year

well from what i know you can pick any number above the number of cars that are allowed at a event.... so if there is a maximum of 500 cars you can pick youf own number above 500.. some pro cars even pick numbers in the 1000s... so that why there is no conflict with another possible entery... I personally pick my girlfriend Brithday...609AM = AnnMarie

My car is not going to be 300710 hehe . I know mike Laskey's car # differs from his membership too. So I guess we just pick a 4 digit # and as long as no one else has it we are ok then.

I wonder if its ok to do that for all of the sanctioning bodys??
That way you can just have one number on the car all of the time and not have to worry about it??

I think they changed the number to a divisional number for example there are 7 divisions in the NHRA circuit. California is divisional 7. Oregon and Washing are divisional 6. Where ever you are from your number has to start with your division and max total of 4 numbers including your division number. check at the NHRA site to see which division you are from.

Art,

If i remember correctly you get a certain number from which ever division you are in. for instance your in Texas which is divison 4. You will normally get a number that starts with 4. Im sure you can request a certain number other than the number that starts with 4 as long as it not taken. Call JIM at the office and ask him if 808 is taken. I would assume 808 is taken by some one is Hawaii

please don't use 8180, thats mine, i represent the 818!zero on end is just to make 4 digits, i have a NHRA license # MANY PEOPLE USE IT BUT i WAS Told that if you want to use a number just try to use over 500 inorder to prevent two cars with the same #, each track event starts at random numbers and counts up on each run card. i always saw 4 digit numbers with pros, thats why i did it and the 818 is my hood.

dont worry Goldmember, I would only like to use 808A. I hope the letter A isnt a problem because Kenny Tran has K at the end of his #. I would use my girlfriends birthday, but I dont have one...lol

Its ok pete, britney is only married to her brother so its not its a real marriage.
