B18A Vs. B18B
I know the big differences like cable tranny and some head differences, but what about the block? The reason Im asking is because I would like to start bulding up my motor, but do not want to be with out a car for the time it takes me to build it (it wont be a fast build up, maybe over 3 or 4 months). I started looking for a block and crank (B18B) I noticed they are quite a bit more spendy than the B18A. I found a B18A block and crank for $200, it has one cracked sleeve but Im planning on re-sleeving it anyways with maybe Darton Sleeves. So, I guess my question is, is there any major difference in the blocks?
ok, here are my reasons for swapping my b18a with a 98 b18b. 1. the head is a stronger design, better flow. 2 the intake manifold is better. 3. the block is supposibly more ridgid and supported. plus little things like lower miles, newer bearings. but ultimatly there's basicaly minor differences in the head.
