Default What causes boost to spike?

Driving back from the track last night, my friend called and said that he got on the gas on the fwy and his boost shot up to 1.53 bar (its set at 1.22) and the sbc-id started blinking red, so he backed off and did it again to see and boost went up to 1.65 bar and again the sbc-id blinked. So he backed off and then after awhile he tried it again and it ran fine.. Just those two times..

What could the gremlins be?
