Default for the low 10 high 9 second spfwd,T4,Pro-am fwd and sport comp people

ok me and a buddy where talking and a few things came up so I want to try and figure a few things out..I would like to find out roughly how much power you guys make, tire size and weather staged boost control was used..

we saw a guy at the track that was making (he said) 568 whp and ran a MBC with 1 stage of boost (full boost from the get go) with 24.5x8 m/t slicks and ran a 10.11 and the car seemed to hook like it was on rails..

I know there are a few topics on this but they are old and I dont want to bump a dead post..

i have run 10.84 at 133mphwith a 1.67 60ft.on 26lbs.i use a turbosmart eboost2 electronic boost controler.it does do staged boost but have not set it up to do so yet.we use a 24.5-8.0x13 mt slick.the tracks all closed before setting up the staged levels.my setup made 600hp 420ft lbs at 28psi evans tuned.coming out with car on lauch controller set to 7500rpm on 8psi boost and spinning through 1st in through second but hooking in to third.but car is set to full boost all the time.

see thats where I think my problem is..

Iam using 7 stages of boost (AEM vss based) and I just cant get it right..as soon as I hit 34 psi (790 whp) the car just goes nuts and spins the top of third all thru 4th (fills the cabin with tire smoke! on 25x8.7x13 M&H's) but I think it just may be my turbo is just to damn big or I need to run more boost at lower mph to get the car up and moving faster..Iam cutting 1.6x sixty foots damn near every pass..

What's your tire pressure, and how is the prep at the track you run at?

If it's only a 1\8th Mile Prep...it's going to do that. You gotta dial it down playa.

tire psi is 5.5 and its 1320 with pretty good track prep (enough to break axles on 60% of the fwd's!)

I think Iam coming out the whole under powered and trying to bring high boost in to late..thats what Iam trying to figure out..

its timeto stop focusingon rediulous amounts of power and focus on spring rates, spring preload, shock dampening rates, traction bar preload, etc.... its not all about the hp numbers

David,

Bring it down dude. Something I like to do is pull almost everything out of it on the first pass (remember I use the quad stage from Turbo XS). I ran a lot of last season on only about 19.5 PSI. A lot of times I ran the 26 x 8.5 x 15 from Mickey Thompson. I could click 1.58 tp 1.63 60' times, not too many of those in Paldale though, and I have never raced the EG in Bakersfield. Take it down and let it hook up, and I bet you that it will run quicker than you have with the 790 @ 34 PSI.

Also, look at the logger and see where your boost is coming in. You said that it is VSS, so make sure that the speed is not overlapping with a shift point where you go from 3rd to 4th gear. You want the car to be able to hook than pour the power into it.

at palmdale the highest boost I ran was 17 psi due to the track prep..but out here I tryed higher boost and just lit the track up..

Iam going to bring the high end boost down to 25 and bring the low end up from 7 to 12 and see what it does..

BTW..all my boost stages come in while Iam in a gear..not during changes..worked on that one for awhile..lol

It may also be the nature in which the next boost level comes in. I was tuning a 2 stage setup on the street (Greddy Profec spec 1) and had to use the (what I like to call the "agressiveness ****") 3rd **** to key down how hard the 2nd stage came in. With it turned all the way to the aggressive side it would light up the street even in 4th gear going 70+mph. I had to turn it about 1/3 of the way down which eased into the higher stage and allowed the pressure to build a lil' slower. In turn this allowed the vehicle to speed up and controlled the amount of tire spin that was taking place. I'm not sure if you have control over this w/ the AEM but, it may be something to look into.

I have Turbo XS dual stage, and on high boost(28psi 610whp 440tq) the whole run I would have traction problems, expecially with 1st to 2nd gear shift.
My best 330'ft. was 4.52@110 Then i got a quaife lsd and have full traction the whole run and have cut a 4.37 330'ft.
