Default Running open downpipe on turbo cars: advantages, disadvantages

What are your experiences running open downpipe on your turbo cars(at the track)? I'm talking turbo street cars w/ 275-400HP. Please list your experiences and tell me if it's worth doing. What kind of times did you drop or gain? Thanks.

I dont have a Honda but I dont use any exhaust at all. I have a small j-pipe running off the turbo and it seems to do fine. I have seen dyno graphs where turbo cars gained as much as 20hp off of running no exhaust.

Running open exhaust on a turboed anything has nothing but benefits. Although it will run more lean when the exhaust is open, so you will probably need to add a little more fuel

Just make sure you don't run to lean.

it sucks when its a daily driver because you usually come out smelling like fuel. but if you dont mind it then chuck it.

I was wondering the same thing. But, what I also want to know is how long should the downpipe be? I mean, for best flow of course.

Pro:
Faster spool
Better top end
Insane spooling sound
Nice smell if you like the smell of burnt fuel

Con:
Loud as **** when its 3"
Some tracks wont let you race without a muffler
Cant really hear when somethings going wrong

to tell you the truth id run open downpipe out the side of my bumper if my local track didnt require mufflers

Open Downpipes aren't too bad to drive around as long as you keep the RPMs reasonable, theyre pretty damn quiet.

a lot of tracks will still let you run on muffled vehicle only night because the turbo is actling almost like a muffler itself, and they're still not as loud as those bigblock monsters running anyway, I guess it's how cool you are with the officials.

we were running garys full race car on muffled only night at englishtown all the time up until the 2step just got too out of control loud.
